1 tube pan generously greased and floured In a large
mixing bowl mix the 2 sticks of butter with the 1 1/2 cups of shortening
until blended. Add the eggs one at a time and mix thoroughly. Add the
sugar one-cup at a time and mix well with each. Then add the flour one-cup
at a time. Batter will be very thick. Measure out the 1 cup of milk and
place in a cup or bowl slightly larger than the cup size. Stir in the
baking powder, vanilla and other flavoring with the milk. Add the milk
mixture a little at a time to the batter. Batter will be slightly less
thick, but still very thick. Spoon into greased and floured tube pan
spreading it evenly.
Bake at 325 for 1 hour and 20 minutes. If using cake mold, watch for
doneness since each mold is different. Cool on wire rack for 10-15
minutes, then remove outer side of pan. Remain cooling on rack for another
hour before removing tube from the inside.
