Fig Filling

2 cups (1 pound) fresh figs
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup finely chopped pecans

 

Cut figs in small pieces. Or soak dried figs 1 hour, then drain. Clip off stems. Cut fine. Add water and sugar to figs in double boiler. Cook 10 to 12 minutes, stirring frequently. Add pecans and let cool.

YIELD about 3 cups filling
