Materials/equipment

Gum paste                                                        Edible glue plus brush

Vegetable fat                                                    Piece of Styrofoam

Paste food colours                                            2 1/2 inch round cutter

Tweezers                                                          Artist pallet knife

Rolling pin                                                        Rolling out board

Floristry scissors                                               Small pliers

Gum paste Anemone buds                                1/8-inch space bars

Gum paste Anemones                                       A piece of dried corn on the cob husk

Color the gum paste.

Using the 2 1/2 inch round cutter, cut a cylinder of Styrofoam approx. 1 1/4 inch in depth.

Gunge- Take a small amount of the colored gum paste (ball approx. ½ inch diameter). Add a small amount of edible glue and knead. Keep adding the edible glue till it sticks to your fingers. Transfer the gum paste to the rolling out board. Keep adding the edible glue and mix (artist pallet knife) till it resembles well-chewed chewing gum (the gunge should not have a wet look and when you pull the knife away it should stretch into long strands). If the gunge has a wet look, then add a small amount of gum paste and re work.

Roll out the colored gum paste. Use the 1/8-inch space bars to ensure an even thickness.

Cut out a 6 inch round.

Place a small amount of gunge in the centre of the 6-inch disc.

Place the Styrofoam cylinder on top of the gunge.

Place a thick collar of gunge around the top edge of the cylinder of Styrofoam.

Bring the gum paste disc up to the gunge. The edge of the gum paste disc should be approx. ½ higher than the cylinder of Styrofoam.

Using your fingers press the gum paste into the Styrofoam cylinder, so that it bellows out at the base.

Roll out a thin sausage of gum paste. Flatten the sausage of gum paste and texture with the dried corn on the cob husk.

Paint a line of edible glue around the tub. Attach the textured sausage of gum paste.

Make the bow, by rolling out a thin sausage of gum paste. Flatten the sausage of gum paste and texture with the dried corn on the cob husk. Cut into two lengths (no less than 2 inches each).

Paint a spot of edible glue approx. 1 inch from one end. Create the loop by position the end of the flattened sausage of gum paste on the glue. Repeat with the other flattened sausage of gum paste.

Paint a spot of edible glue on the opposite side of the looped sausage of gum paste.

Attach the other looped sausage of gum paste.

Cut the ends of the looped sausage of gum paste. Roll a small sausage of gum paste and texture with the dried corn on the cob husk.

Paint a spot of edible glue where the looped sausages of gum paste cross. Attach the small sausage of gum paste.

Flip the bow over. Paint another spot of edible glue where the looped sausage of gum paste cross. Secure the ends of the small sausage of gum paste.

Paint a spot of edible glue where the textured sausage around the tub meets. Attach the bow.

 Completed gum paste tub.

Cut the wired stems of the anemones to the required length using the floristry scissors. Use the tweezers to insert the wired stems of the anemones into the Styrofoam.
