Baby Booties with Cleats

This tutorial was written for those already having a basic knowledge of creating baby booties from fondant/gumpaste.

For those who have not made booties in the past, you can find my tutorial here:

Tools I used:  basic fondant/gumpaste tools, small handful of fondant/gumpaste of desired color, 1” ball of fondant/gumpaste in white and 2” ball of fondant/gumpaste in black.

You will make the booties as usual.

Roll out your white fondant/gumpaste to about the thickness of 2 quarters or 1/8”.  Cut into tiny square and rectangles, about ¼” in length.  Allow to dry.

After creating your booties and allowing them to dry, you will add a second sole with the black fondant/gumpaste.  After cutting it out, using your rolling pin, roll the sole to stretch the length about 1-1.5 inches (depending on the size of your booties).  The toe and heel just go up and over the shoe.  Try not to make them any wider, just longer.  Glue the black soles in place.  Using your finger, smooth along the sides edges, stretching where you need to make the sole completely cover the bottom.

Turn the booties on their sides and glue the white fondant pieces on as cleats.  If desired, place a logo on the sides of the shoes.

Finish booties as usual by adding your shoestrings and fillers.
