1/2 inch space bars Food coloring

Soften a piece of
gum paste to working consistency. Very lightly grease (you need to know its
there, but not be able to see it) the rolling-out board and rolling pin. Roll
the gum paste out (using the space bars).

Use the same space bars and mark
lines on the gum paste to create square (using the artist pallet knife)

Carefully cut the gum paste along
the marked lines (keep wiping the blade of the knife with a damp cloth, to stop
a build up of sugar on the blade - as this will cause the knife to drag/distort
the shape of the paste).

If necessary carefully correct the
shape of the blocks. Leave the blocks to dry.

Use an edible ink pen and mark all
corner edges.

Use edible ink pens to write the
numbers/letters on to the blocks.
