50/50 Gumpaste Fondant color choice
Pallet knife
Wilton Pink Thin Sponge or something
Rolling pin
Wilton Medium Round Circle Cutter
Hooked Veiner

[]
Small amount of 50/50

[]
Make ball in to a cone or Mexican hat as some know it.

[]
Flatten out your Mexican hat

[]
Use your veiner to roll it paper thin.

[]
Paper thin roll you should be able to read what ever is under it.

[]
Make sure that you rolled it large enough for your cutter. Then cut.

[]
Cut remove extra paste.

[]
Should look like this.

[]
Lift it up with what ever your going to use and place on Sponge.

[]
Place on Sponge.

[]
Take the tip of the veiner and pull the paste towards you to frill all around.

[]
Completely frilled

[]
Dip tooth pick or wire in to egg whites.

[]
Insert tooth pick in to center.

[]
Holding it up cup the center.

[]
Put in your Flower Stand to dry completely for a few days.

[]
Dried Completely.

[]
Roll out more 50/50 paper thin enough for about 7 medium circles.

[]
Cut out 7 circles.  Remove extra paste and wrap up. Cover extra circles with wrap.

[]
Place one circle on your sponge to frill completely.

[]
Add a bit of egg white to center of flower and inset circle in to flower center.
[]
Place your flower back in to your stand and get next circle and frill.
[]
Frill another circle and put a bit more of egg white on next center and put your next piece in. At this point I have put 5 centers in which on this flower makes it all most full.

[]
Next frill another circle completely. Fold it in half.

[]
Fold that same piece in half again.

[]
Place a bit more egg white in center then place your folded half on one half of the center.. On this flower we had to do it twice. Then take your palet knife and separate the different folds to fill in your flower..

[]
Placed back in to flower stand.

[]
This flower did not need it but sometimes you will need to fill in the center between the two folded pieces and to do that you would .. Take your circle frill it completely just like you have been. Fold in half The take and roll it to the end.
[]
Rolled Center.
[]
Another view of rolled center make the base small and insert in to flower and move around to fill the flower..

[]
To make Calyx. 50/50 green in this case I used Avocado. The Wilton Star Cutter.

[]
Again roll out paper thin. Cutting 2 Calyx.
[]
2 Calyx

[]
Adding egg whites to the whole Calyx

[]
Insert Flower. Put Calyx all the way up the stump.

[]
Another View of Calyx on Flower.

[]
Add egg white and add 2nd calyx
This time you’re going to fold them backwards to the toothpick so they are loops.

[]

If you have any questions please PM me on Ladycakes or email me at

Remember just cause I used 7 petals in this flower you might have to use more its going to be a do and play to see what works for you... Please post your results as I would love to see your carnations.
