1 oz marzipan                                     Polythene food bag

Veining/Dresden tool                          Cone tool

Tooth picks                                       small scissors

Liquid food color – brown                 Bone tool

Paste food colors (gel) – brown, green, orange

N.B.

Marzipan figures less than three inches in height do not normally require internal supports.

No glue is required, marzipan should stick to its self

Always work with damp hands i.e. wipe hands on a wet cloth

Keep tools clean at all times (wipe with a damp cloth)

Place the marzipan in a polythene food bag (to stop the marzipan skinning over)

Divide the marzipan

Remove a pea size piece of marzipan, then color the remainder light brown ½, 3/8, 1/8

Take the ½ length of marzipan, roll into a ball then shape into a cone. Use fine scissors and make one ½ inch cut from the narrow end of the cone.

Carefully turn the two cut surface down

Cut the 1/8 length of marzipan in half. Shape each piece into a ball then into a cone. Attach the cones either side of the body and smooth the join.

Mark the feet (toes) using the veining tool.

Use your index finger and make an indentation in the top section of the cone (body).

Remove a small pea of paste from the 3/8 length of marzipan. Roll the largest piece into a ball then into a cone. Use your index fingers and create an indentation half way down the cone.

Use the fine scissors and cut half way down the cone.

Carefully turn the two cut surface to the back. Create an indentation in both ears using the dresden tool. Place the head on the body.

Make a small indentation in the front of the head. Take a minute piece of the uncoloured marzipan and roll into a cone. Insert the cone into the indentation.

Use fine scissors and cut the cone to create the two front teeth.

Divide the remaining piece of colored marzipan into three pieces (one piece being a minute piece). Make two small indentations either side of the teeth. Roll the two lager pieces on marzipan into cones and insert into the indentations.

Create the eye sockets using the bone tool.

Use the veining tool and texture the cheeks.

Make a small indentation for the noise. Shape the minute piece of marzipan into a cone and insert into the indentation.

Use the veining tool and create an indentation at the back of the rabbit.

Make a small indentation for the tail. Roll a small piece of the remaining the uncoloured marzipan into a cone and insert into the indentation.

Pipe the eyes with white royal icing. Pipe the pupil of the eyes with brown royal icing

Color a minute piece of the remaining un-colored marzipan green and color the remainder orange. Roll both pieces into cones. Make an indentation in the broad end of the orange cone.

Insert the green cone. Snip the green cone with fine scissors.

Use the artist pallet knife and texture the carrot.

Place the carrot between the rabbit’s paws.
