Christmas Candle Cake

This cake is made using two six inch rounds and one six inch contour round.  The three layers are stacked with the contour round on top and iced with buttercream.

I then added the pearl trim on the top and the bottom of the candle.

For this candle, I used trees and snowflakes cut from gumpaste/fondant mixture dusted with super pearl dust and steamed.  I attached them to the side of the candle using a dab of buttercream.  I then piped tip 14 and 16 stars to complete the design on the sides.

The flame was formed from a gumdrop type candy and a toothpick was inserted at the base to hold it upright on the top of the candle.  Snowflake confetti was used on the top to create a different texture look.

This is a very simple candle.  If you want a more elaborate and elegant candle, you can cover the candle with fondant and proceed with a more elaborate design.  Scott Woolley has a beautiful, elegant Christmas candle on his site for the December “Cake of the Month”.
