How George Makes Fall Leaves from Gumpaste

Materials

Gumpaste

Paste or gel colors in various fall colors

Soft bristled brush to dust leaves with luster dusts

Formers (crumpled aluminum foil may be used for a former)

Luster dusts in fall colors

Leaf cutters Veiners

Take two or three colors of tinted gumpaste and knead lightly together.

Next, roll the gumpaste out quite thin.

Lay the rolled out gumpaste over the veiner and press quite hard.

Turn the veined gumpaste over with the veined side facing upwards.

Place your leaf cutter over the gumpaste, center over the veined area and cut out.

Remove leaf and lay aside.

Place the leaf on a former to dry. I also sometimes use crumpled aluminum foil as a former.

When leaves are almost dry, dust with various colors of luster dusts you have chosen to use, blending colors together.

When leaves are dry, steam over a teakettle by moving the leaf in a circular motion 3 or 4 times above the steam.

Another photo showing better detail and color of the leaves.
